Hello-

I'm looking for advice on a pocket fixed EDC knife. OAL would be about 5". I'm not into wharncliffe's. I currently have a mini-canadian by BRKT, and although I like it, I have to admit it's just a tad on th bulky side for me.

Any suggestions? (I kind of like the older O.M.F. style, if that helps)

Thanks

Im not sure what "older O.M.F. style" is. so if this doesnt fit what you want sorry.

For small fixed blades i really really like the benchmade activator. 5.5 inches overall with a blade of a little over 2 inches. These just have a great in-hand feel IMO.

s30v blade g10 handes can be had for a little over $100
D2 blade wood handles can be had for around $70

Although longer than 5" you may like to consider another Barkie: Mini Northstar that comes in stainless and the new sharpshooter sheath is slim, a big improvement on the former sheath-bulky etc.

Really tidy and easy to carry knife. Also from BRKT the mikro slither is a fine neck or pocket knife but very small(still useful)and their Blackwater Boot knife comes with a kydex sheath with clip (mine has leather sheath with carry clip) All very good knives in my view:thumbup:

Check out the Simonich Bitteroot(be advised when searching that it is frequently misspelled with a double r). Not sure about availability, but the OAL is only 4".
I regret selling mine...

* I guess by "older" OMF I misspoke. There is only one.

Wow to the BM Activator!!! I think you may have nailed it on the first response, but I'm still looking.

Here's some other thoughts:
* Bitteroot has some definite upside as a neck knife, which I don't own yet. Nice knife!
* Resistor looks too tactical to me. I'm very hobbit-ish, if you know what I mean.
* Mini-Northstar would win, but I'd really like something in the 5" OAL. My Mini-Canadian is 6" and that's pushing it already for pocket carry.
* I'm one of the people who just doesn't "get" slithers.
* I think the OMF is a semi-wharncliffe. I like the "semi" part. I guess I don't hate them, but I like a little belly.
* I've looked at BR's other offerings, and the PSK is close, as is the Pro Scalpal (sp?). Can't do the Boot Knife or the IMP really.

Thanks. More suggestions are appreciated!!

If you like the BRKT Mini Canadian then the Micro 2 is much less bulky. The PSK gets great reviews although I haven't handled one.
You might also check what Bob Dozier has in your size, his knives are awesome.

Barkie PSK, or Scott Gossman PSK, or his new PSK Jr. David Farmer's neckers are perfect pocket EDC size too, carried my one like that before I dropped it off with Scott for a kydex sheath.

Fallkniven WM1, blade 2,8", 6,9" total.
Lots of different sheath options (leather, zytel, kydex x 2). Available as blade only for you DIY people.
It is like a normal folding knife, but it doesnt fold :)
Same quality as the bigger Fallkniven knives.

At 6" the BRKT Blackwater boot knife might be a tad too large but it's in the ballpark.

I kinda like this, from Lynn Dawson.

How about Anza? They make some neat, very small fixed blades.

As for me, I've got a Mini Canadian that I pocket carry in the Russell Woodswalker's sheath.

T.K.C.--Would you PLEASE stop posting that picture of the Fireant!! It cost me the price of one, and mine won't be ready until well into next year.
