my basic question is whether I as an individual would be able to sell these larger folding knives and mail them legally. They belonged to my father who was a knife dealer. I really just want advice (no offers to buy please lest I get kicked off the forum on my first post.

Dad used to sell these to police/first responders/military. The marzitelli prowler is maybe not too long depending on where you measure the blade. The Crawford Falcon is huge.

I also have a couple of v-tech raptor folding drop point vt12020 and venom vt12010. Personally I do not like any of these knives. I found them big and bulky and not that useful to me. I carry a knife when I am walking outside of my house because we have wild animals like coyote, bobcats, bears (like that would help me there at all) and probably other things that would eat us if they could but I have not seen them yet (oh maybe the cat that looked like a panther).

I have even asked police where we live (in two different states) to tell me how they measure and they just tell me not to worry that never get involved unless I used it on someone....

Any advice would be appreciated.

Allowing for not knowing which state you are in, you should have no problem with selling any of those knives. They are all folders and none of them are switchblades, which by federal law, you would not be able to send across state lines. If any were, you could just sell them locally and not worry about anything.

I believe the Falcon, which has a 3 inch blade, is the largest one you have there.

Knife blades are measured from the tip to the forward most edge of the guard in a straight line (NOT along the cutting edge as some people believe). If the knife does not have a guard, you measure from where the guard would be if the knife had a guard. That would be the front of the handle scales to the tip, straight line.

If you choose to try to sell them on the exchange here or even ask about values of them, you will need to have a paying membership. You can get a rough feel by searching fleabay for current asking prices/going bids and looking through complete auctions to see what they went for.
