Does camillus make their military camp knife in america? Also is any better than a victorinox soldier? The I thing liked about the camillus was the fact that it had a lanyard bail. Thanks.

Yes, the military utility knife was made in the USA. There are some posts on the Imperial version on the Schrade collectors forum. They were really tough little knives made in huge numbers. They are heavier than the Vic soldier by quite a bit, and not as user friendly, often with stiff springs and sharp edged handles when new. Personally, I like both the US utility knife and the SAK, so "better" is relative to me. You may want to check out the Wenger version of the Soldier (I think it is called the Standard Issue, but I'm not sure) which has a lanyard ring. Hope this helps.

This is a little off topic. But, SouthDakotan, are you from South Dakota. Cuz I am and it's good to see someone from this neck of the woods on the forum. Whereabouts are you from if you don't mind sharing. I live in Sioux Falls, myself.

MaxFisher, I live near bison up in perkins county. Also have you guys got much rain down that way this year?

No, not much rain. We've had a couple of thunderstorms over the last couple weeks, but my lawn is looking awfully brown this year. I water it when I can but the city has set restrictions on when we can do that.

The 4 blade military camp knife (model #S1760) is made right at the Camillus factory. This knife was first made in 1949 and more than 12 million knives have been produced. In addition to the models stamped "U.S." on the handle, "U.S.M.C., U.S.N. and U.S.A.F." stampings were also offered. A plain version with no handle stamping was made for Canada.
