Wondering if I can get some advice about fixed blades:

Greetings.
I am 22 right now. When I was 16, I purchased a full sized black ka bar fixed blade... with serrations and a black rubber handle... it has been a very good companion with me on my many adventures. I am looking to replace the old boy with something a bit better. (I beat the hell out of the knife and it needs to be replaced)

I love the feel of the ka bar, but hate the top hilt. The Next Gen stuff fixed that problem by removing it. So far I think I am going to go for a next gen.

I am wondering if there is anything else that you guys might recommend over the Ka Bar Next Gen series, or maybe the new Ka bar D-2.

Other knives I was looking at are:
-The new D-2 fixed blade CSK from Benchmade.
-The Ontario RTAK series.
-Something from SOG maybe.

I am looking for a knife that is similar in size and feel to the ka bar, with rubber type grips (no wood or anything slick). I want something that can be abused somewhat and wont rust on me.

I want a knife that can get wet (even with salt water) and won't rust right away.

I like the codura sheaths with the pouch for a stone and/or sharpeners.

Also I am debating whether or not I want serrations or not. (sharpening those serrations were a lil annoying)

Also I wont really want to spend more than 100 bucks.

Also I want a knife with a flat finish... nothing shiny.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike C

Maybe Ranger Knives and Swamp Rat are worth a look. $100 budget might put Swamp Rat out...

Falkniven A1 might do the trick too. Not sure what the cost is...

I think the Falkniven might be too much too...

I forgot about Becker Knife and Tool.

The Cold Steel Peacekeeper series is a good brushed stainless 420 double-edged knife that should be as resiliant as anything to salt (though anything with any carbon is going to pit on you). Black rubber grips and Kydex case. If you can live with the next generation of Ka-Bar, go with that, but it probably won't take a lot of "wet."
