Wondering if this knife would be a good buy.

They are decent knives though i have always been partial to the flash II myself. Not bad assisted action for production knives. Price point doesn't seem bad. I say if its what you are looking for then get it and try it out.

I was never a fan of the trident series because of the handle size compared to blade. Looks off to me. Also the cutout is strange. Further I don't like Tantos for EDC. But hey, that's whats cool about the knife game: everyone has their own preferences. Find what you like and go with it!

Welcome to the forums! I've been eying that knife off and on. Looks like a good price and BladeHQ is a good dealer. Also, they are about 1:30 minutes from me. One of these times when I'm up that way visiting family, I should visit their show room and check out their stock in person.

Welcome to the forums! Tons of fun, and information. You may feel a sinking feeling in your wallet, but don't worry, that's normal. lol.
Anyhow, for a assist, I suggest a Buck 290 Rush. 3" blade and more proportionate to the handle.

If ya want a tanto, go for a Buck 090 C-Sar.

To me the bad (and good in a way) thing about the Trident series is that it doesn't have liners. The entire handle is composite. Gives it a bit of a cheap and unbalanced feel in the hand (bad), but also makes it lighter (good).

My first choices in SOG folders are the Vulcan mini and twitch II.
