Wondering

If you are going on serial number, you are probably correct. I've never seen an LB7 in an older box than this one, but I think the white one piece box was used for several years. I would suspect the 1979 LB7 would have a lower serial number and 4 pins.

i sent him that info and he responded that he bought it in 1979. we all get our years mixed up after a decade or so.

Here is a tiny excerpt by Michael Little (Codger) on LB 7's in an old thread:

"Here is how the serial numbers shake out so far. Ready? Drop your dimes in the can to your right.
1977 - Serials #0001 - #17693
1978 - Serials #17694 - #334585
1979 - Serials #334586 - #785250
1980 - Serials #785251 - #999,999, #A00001 - #A99999, #B00001 - #B18423
1981 - Serials #B18424 - #B99999, #C00001 - #C81575"

My conclusion: According to his research above, a "W" alphanumeric serial number would be much later than the year 1981.

I agree with delmas2nd as time goes by we sometimes miss a few years as we think back. Or he could be a time traveler.:D
