Went to Las Cruces yesterday with the wife to go to a wine
festival and I convinced her we should deviate to the Sportman's
Warehouse. Well, I was surprised at the selection of quality knives
(Benchmade, Lone Wolf, etc.) but as I was checking out the Cold Steel Strider copy(fixed) :barf: , I noticed a lone Becker sitting in the back of the case all by itself next to the Cold Steel fixed blades(poor Becker). I just had
to ask the lady how much because it didn't have a tag. 49.95! I guess they
didn't know that these have gone up a bit. Now I am the owner of a Combat/
Utility to go with my Campanion. :) I couldn't find a Becker Necker though, that's next on my list.

The sheath I do not care for however. Do any Becker aficianados know where I can get a sheath like the Kydex one for my Campanion? I'm
assuming it will have to be custom..

Thanks for letting me gloat :o

Great score! You can get a sheath from On/Scene Tactical -- click on the link and read the caption on the second picture: An Operator in Iraq using a Becker BK 7 with On/Scene Tactical sheath

Wow, I've never found a physical store in New Mexico with competitive knife prices or selection. But I don't get down to Las Cruces much either. You totally SCORED!

OT, how was the wine? We used to go to the festival every year in Bernalillo.

Bob, the wine was good, but too much and too much NM sun. :(
Sportsman's warehouse is a chain store, they are fairly new to
Las Cruces. It reminds me of Cabelas. It's about time a competitor
comes into this area(El Paso, Las Cruces) to challenge Big 5 with their
crappy S&W and MTech knives.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check them out if I see one.
Up here in Raton the knife selection is slim pickings. There's a single outdoor store that has some OK knives mixed in with the junk, but they're ~way~ overpriced. And sometimes K-Mart has some Buck knives.

New Mexico wine is great! No such thing as too much sun, and the only time I over-endulged at a festival was due to the Prickly Pear wine.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

. . . Sportman's Warehouse. I had exactly the same experience a few weeks ago at the one Sportmans's Warehouse here in Indiana. They had one BK7 in the front of the display case for $49.95. Naturally I bought it even though I couldn't afford it, but I could not afford to leave it there either! :D

The sales guy was well aware of the current market value of the knife, the demise of Camillus, and that it would be a long time (if ever) before they would get anymore because we talked about it while he was getting the box. They didn't raise the price because that's not the way they do business, which was yet another good reason to buy stuff from them.
