I just got my Commander toady and I really like it so far. The wave opening is just cool and the knife just fits my hands perfectly.:)

I do have one question/concern, however. The blade is pretty close to the right liner (right side being the "unsharpened" side of the blade since it's a chisel edge) and sometimes rubs against it when I use the thumb disk to open it. Is there anyway to fix this?

My '02 Commander is a beauty! Not even John has one of these babies!!!:p

As for the liner thing...not too sure...maybe your pivot is too tight?

The pivot probably isn't too tight because if I loosen it, it'll start to get even closer to the liner. Right now, the pivot screw's tension is at the point where I can open it with the thumbstud w/o having the blade rub against the liner, but it's still loose enough to use the wave opening w/o too much force. Oh well, unless it's covered by the warrantee, I guess I'll just live with it.

re: rubbing--mine does that too, but dosen't do it when being "waved", therefore, ipso fatso, presto change-o, i just wave the darn thing, and i'm 'bout as happy as a clam at a clam-bake:D
just don't drop it. did that once:mad:

You named it Commander toady? Really?;) :D Just kidding, man. You must be excited as I was when I rcv'd my first Commander. They are my all-time favorite of the Emerson Production line up. I have like 13 or 14 of them; Supers, Full-size, and Minis, including the custom ES1M. They're hot in my book! Never had any problem with rubbing on any of mine, btw...

SB:

Here is one possible solution to the "rubbing liner" concern. I'll assume at this point that your new Commander is one later than a 2000 model. That said, all models produced after 1999 have a secondary detent. Sometimes this detent adds a little too much pressure on the Blade when it is being closed or is closed.

So, field strip the knife and relieve a little pressure from the scondary detent by pushing it into the liner a fraction. When you reassemble your Commander, center the blade as you tighten the pivot pin. I had the same situation with a PSARK. The secondary detent relief solved the problem.

Hope that helps. Enjoy your new knife! :)

I got my first Commander in March of 99. I know how you feel. It`s an awesome weapon. I`m seldom without one. In fact don`t leave home without it.
