Hey guys, i am starting a new youtube series called Wood 101, its meant to help knife makers understand wood, how to get the most out of it, how to ask for the exact loo kthey want, and general knowledge,

This is the first video of figure,

Sorry about the quality, gotta fiddle with my camera. Let me know what you think!

You did good Ben - Looking forward to more of your videos. That is some NICE wood you displayed. Thanks for taking time to make video. Ken H>

Before you fiddle with the camera, add a whole friggin bunch more light from all directions
The difference will be night and day.

I like 6500K /CFL's
If you use 5000k LED's whatever that's fine, just make sure they are all the same.
You can adjust colour later

Instead of holding the wood in the air, just keep it set on the table.

Set your focus manually, if you have to turn the wood, tilt it while still resting on the table

That will eliminate a lot of shaky / focus problems.

Soften up your voice, relax a little.

Thnx, I always find your info on wood very interesting.
Just tell us what you know :)
