Good morning, I have a single bit flint edge with a good handle. I want to soak the head with handle in vinegar to get rid of rust. What will it do to the handle. Just soak the head, not the whole handle. Thanks, Dog

The vinegar will absorb into the wood. Which is bad.

Remove the head of you want to soak it in vinegar.

Also, if the handle is fine, how bad could the rust possibly be? You probably don't need to do something as aggressive as a vinegar soak. Have you tried a wire wheel?

I have, but will do more. I will take flap disk etc to it as it will be a user axe. Thanks, Dog
