wood band saw alternative

I'm looking for suggestions on a power alternative to a wood bandsaw.
The cost of the bandsaw really isn't the issue for me, it's the space it takes up.

I won't have my garage space till August this year so I'm thinking along the lines of a portable trim saw.

I think what that thread is about is a metal cutting die grinder style tool that uses abrasive wheels. Trying to cut wood with those will liikely be a smokey failure. If the tool also requires a compressor, it wont save much space over a small band saw likely.

Variable speed portaband, Swag table, correct blade, wood and metal. Small footprint.

You can get a small table top bandsaw or scroll saw if you are only cutting wood.

Before I got my bandsaw, I used a jig saw mounted to a 12" square piece of plywood that could be c-clamped to a bench. It hung on the wall when not in use. A hand coping saw is another alternative.
