Just wrapped up the engraving on this project. It is a trader model with a drop point blade (4") and small caping blade (2.25"). Both blades of forged 1084.
Nice old ivory scales with domed pins on a stainless frame make up the handle. English scroll engraving with raised 22k gold borders on the bolsters.

The box (not quite finished, but will be tomorrow) is made from Bolivian curly cherry. The cavities are flocked with felt, and fit the knife very well.

The blades are released by pressing the tab on the spine of the handle, and pulling the blades out the front. The seat and lock are both tapered to provide a secure fit. Even if the knife gets dirty, the blade will find it's fit since there are no square shoulders that require perfectly clean surfaces to mate up. A tapered seat will work even with some dirt or lint.

Let me know what ya'll think!!

P.S. this one is available, e-mail me off forum or PM.

Terrific works as always Bailey - and very nice presentation with the box.

I'm really impressed bud. The engraving is outstanding and I love the lines of both blades and handle.

I remember you had something similar with you a couple years ago at the bladesmith school, the aspect I remember most clearly was how tight the blades were. There was absolutly no wobble or play, just rock solid.

Wish I had the cash.

Thanks for the compliments. Always appreciated.

Matt,

I did have a similar piece at the school when you were there. I had forgotten that. Solid lockup is a must, but is easy to get with tapered seats.

Not to continue with the salesmanship but this one needs to find a home....BAD!! I am finishing out a room in my house to help a friend, and building materials keep going up. I will entertain offers too.

Thanks again,

Outstanding Bailey. I remember seeing the one you brought to the school, and the lock up is amazingly sturdy. If I remember right it takes more effort to release than to lock.
Your engraving is flawless as usual.

Later,
Chris

P.S. what is the ball park on this one
