This is Bruce Bohrmann, Yarmouth, Maine. Word of caution: while I like cocobolo, I find I'm allergic. Does anyone else have this problem?

Almost everyone. Working with cocobolo has always been a hazard. A good respirator, gloves and long sleeves are mandatory.

Once it's finished no more problems.

Same here. Sometimes get runny nosed and red eyed even with a respirator. Looks good when we're done though.

Have a fan blowing across the sander when roughing out will help. But still, snotty nose, irritated eyes, and itchy spots will prevail!

But, like someone else said, gorgeous stuff!

Makes me sneeze and cough quite a bit. Get a good respirator. Only wood that does it too me. Brazillian Rosewood, Snakewood, Bloodwood, Tulip, Ebony none of these do it just the cocobolo.

I do not get the itchy skin parts of the reaction, fortunately. I do, however, get the coughing and burning nose. It reminds me a lot of breathing in fine black pepper.

Heck yeah. I put myself into a "bio-suit"; one of those disposable paper-type suits and respirator. But, it's worth it.
Cocobolo is King.
