Wood crack repair tip

The magnificently carved Nepali oak handle of my new Kumar Karda had a slight longtitudinal crack like wood will sometimes get when it loses moisture content rapidly. Some folks would have shrieked in horror over such a little thing, but being an avid reader of the forum I know it's a mere trifle. Heck, if Pappy can figure out that mixing charcoal dust and epoxy makes a near invisible repair on horn, I figured I should be able to come up with something that works as well on wood. But woe is me, what to match that beautiful reddish brown hue? Hmmm, pecan shells, yup, pecan shells. Crushed and ground to a fine powder, then mixed with epoxy, it matches perfectly. I'm just nuts (pun intended) over the results!

Sarge = I love it.

keeping nature together...

You got a good head on your shoulders Sarge. My sons have made comments about the old man being a wizzard but, really all one has to do is look at what must be done. Then put on the think cap and keep the eyes open for some thing to do with what needs done.

You'll sure do to run the river with.:D

Don't forget to hit the hippie type bead shops as they sell buffalo horn buttons and beads in varied colors that can be scraped or sanded to provide filler material for crackss.

Neat.

Our local Pets-mart sells fine granular Walnut shell
and course-ground Corn Cob for pet litter/bedding.
