Wood differences between classic and new style.

I have one new style wood inlay and one classic wood inlay. The new style wood is maple burl, and is very smooth and glossy.

The classic is rosewood and has and has more of a matte finsish, with some small texturing evident on the surface. (I like it's finish better)

Are all new style regular wood inlays smooth and glossy? Or does it depend on the wood?

If it's the wood, can anyone define lists of the smooth and glossy woods vs. the matte and slightly textured woods?

Thanks

good question... AND are they ALL stabilized... AND which woods allow more of the stabilization resin to soak in? AND are those woods MORE STABLE?

I'm not too worried about the stabilzation aspect, I assume they will be fine for my use regardless.

I just got my new Redwood Burl Large Regular (non-Classic) Sebenza and it has a nice matte finish, and texture. It's not the wood itself that determines gloss or matte, but the polishing and finish used on the wood.
