I posted this over in the Customs Forum but thought I would post it here as well...

Finished this one up for one of my repeat customers. He asked for my wood drake design (Nessmuk Inspired) but to "Make it Special" and left me free reign on the details. I had a piece of Spalted Sycamore from Mark "Burl Source" that had the Old Growth / New Growth running across it like a Hamon. I knew there would be a blade that would be the perfect match and I think I found it

Wood Drake Specs:
Steel: Aldo's 1/8" 1095 (Hamon)
OAL: 9"
Blade: 4.5'
Handle: Stabilized Spalted Sycamore (From Burl Source) Had it as Maple before... Thanks Mark
Misc: Tapered Tang, Mosaic pin

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I really appreciate the feedback! Mark pointed out that I had it listed as Spalted Maple, intact it is Spalted Sycamore. Thanks Mark

Ryan, that is truly one of the best handle/blade match ups I've ever seen! What a great looking result, the blade and scales are literally made for each other. I really love this one!!

That is excellent, Ryan!, I dont think I've ever seen a knife where the hamon and the handle matches...

Ryan,
We all know that you just drew the matching spalt line on the wood with a Sharpie......now didn't you :)

Thanks again for all the great comments, I had fun doing this one.

You caught me stacy but you are not quite right, I used a Jig saw and very thin Micarta.... :D
