I just came in from the store, and all I can find is potassium chloride, is it basicly the same as potassium permangenate, That you use for dying birdseye maple. No one around here knows anything about potassium permangenate.(they didn't even know at sears)

Thanks

Bill:D

I got mine from CVA (drug store)--$18.00 for a 16oz jar I
think. You could try a garden center it may be
called pot ash there but don`t hold me to it.

I was just at Sears earlier today. I had to return a dishwasher :( I stopped by the section that has water filters and potassium permangenate was there. Small bottle...4.95 or so. It's used as a water softener I think.

Tom,

The sears store we have is only a catalog store, I guess there afraid to stock anything, with fear of not being able to sell it.
I'll find some somewhere.:) Thanks guys.

Bill

I got my Potasium Permanganate at a chemists. Not sure what they were selling it FOR, it can be used to kill mosquito lava, don't know what else.

I lucked into some Chromic acid granuals, they worked MUCH better for dying wood. Got them from a metal plating company, explained that I wanted them for cabinet making :)

just did a search at sears.com and it turned up the potassium that I saw.. 6 oz. and a 6lb. bottle.
