Wood finishing - Bondini-3 cheap at Big Lots

49 cents worth of Bondini will square away cracks in handles that cause otherwise perfect khuks to be stigmatized by the appellation of the term "blem". Done right, the repaired crack is easily as strong/stronger than the surrounding handle material. Anybody that's been put off from picking up a nice blem because it has cracks in the handle should buy one just to try one.:D

Sarge

p.s.: Thanks for the tip DDean, hadn't thought of checking Big Lots

Edited to add: "RE: Buy one to try one", looks like there's a 15" AK and an 18" WWII, still up for grabs. Both sweet khuks made by Sher. Sher makes comfortable handles and blades that'll hold up to hard work.

i think there's a dollar store around here (called "upscale dollar store" or something of that ilk) that sells 3-packs of superglue (don't know the brand, it's the standard stuff) for a buck. considering the fact that i go through superglue like crazy, i will probably be picking a bunch up. they also sell what are undoubtedly horrific-quality locking folders.

Handle repairs--Right.

I was actually thinking of using cyanoacrylate as
a wood finish on handles.
For which mass quantity is needed.

Big Lots
89-cents this time.

If you "Consume mass quantities!"
It's a good buy.
See initial post for "store finder".

I shook the Bondini to make sure it was still fluid.
It gurgled.
Sometimes I gurgle too.
:D

Huh! Never heard of Big Lots before, and it turns out there are several within easy driving distance.

Just found "SuperGlue" brand cyanoacrylate at Dollar General.
2-pack of 0.11-oz each (std size) for $1.

Dollar General is a very common store from Central US
(texas/kansas) eastward.

BTW.....Model shops, woodworking shops, and other specialty shops
sell larger, more economical bottles of cyanoacrylate
in various formulations.
I have a 0.5-oz bottle I picked up a while back for about $7
at a model shop.
That's a little more expensive than 50-90 cents per 0.1 oz,
but more universally available.

I haven't tried unbranded cyanoacrylates,
which seem a little cheaper,
and certainly more common in the $1-stores.

If my use increases I may try some for the economy,
but for now I'll stick with established brand names.

cyanoacrylates as a class of adhesive.
