My dad always had a Chicago Cutlery Traveler Fillet with a 4" or 5" blade. It is now mine and I am amazed at how sharp this knife gets. Recently, a group of guys got together at a buddy's farm. One of the guys is a die-hard fisherman. He went out on the pond, 33 acre, and came in with 20 2-4# largemouth bass. He pulled out two longer bladed Travelers and filleted them in no time. It doesn't look like they are made anymore. I found one on EBAY for $52 so far... I like these but a $52 knife they are not. What are my alternatives? The 5" Opinel has caught my eye. My cheap Opinel paring knife is a 1/10th the price of any of my kitchen knives and it is awesome, I love carbon steel but realize fillets are stainless. Any others? Thoughts?

I don't fish as much as I want but these are handy travel kitchen knives and a good sharp utility knife. They are great in the kitchen and picnic.
