Thanks to the kind folks at the Passaround forum section (DaveH in particular) I just spent the last week with a Limited Edition Wood Inlay Small Regular Sebenza.
First of all, yes, everyone is right about the level of fit and finish. It was perfect. Perfect.
I guess the real question that I hoped to answer through this passaround was: "Would I buy this knife?" I've decided that the answer is no, I wouldn't.
The knife is beautiful and an amazingly functional tool, no doubt. The action is smooth, blade is centered...clip is perfectly functional. Everything works, but the knife never spoke to me. Some knives, when handled evoke strong responses to their elegance or simplicity of function, but this didn't. I think one main reason is because it is evident that the knife was never designed with wood-inlays in mind. They are an afterthought, and it shows in how they are laid out on the knife.
There is of course nothing wrong with the knife, but its just that at this price range, there are so many other customs that are available that I wouldn't have a reason to put $500 down for a Sebenza.
But again, thank you for the opportunity.
