#WJ-LL; The "Leuku-Puukko Combination" has one of each for any need. The Leuku has a blade 8 1/4" long, 1 1/2" wide and .130" thick. The 4 1/2" handle is proportioned for larger hands. The Puukko has a blade 3" long, 3/4" wide and .130" thick. The 4 1/4' handle fits my average hand quite well for the more precise tasks of the puukko. $125.

So this is the combo I've been looking at. Price is right and I really dig the designs. What do you guys think? I own every Mora I want so now I'm looking at other stuff on Ragweed. What drew me to this combo was A) the handles and what seem to be decent blades and B) the price of the combo seems better than buying one of the other Leukus and Puukkos seperately. If there is a better combo at the same price or less, let me know. I want to order either today or tomorrow.

Also, this caught my eye. I can't tell from the picture, but this looks like a scandi grind folder. Anyone know what's up with these and if they are worth the dough?

The Swede-60 is a bit lighter in the pocket at about 4 ounces. The slender stainless blade is about 3 5/8" long and .104" thick. This one has the blade release about a third of the way back so you can close the blade with one hand, by pressing the release and folding the blade against your leg or some other surface. There is a lanyard loop that can be folded into the handle when not in use. The handle is Bubina wood with hidden brass liners. About 4 1/2" closed, the price is $37.

I love the Wood Jewel knives for precisely the reasons you cite. Handling these knives gives one the impression they are the toughest puukos available. Great full tang handles reinforced with Reindeer antler bolsters, and thick, sharp, scandi ground blades. What's not to like? I've got the 3" carver and the 10 cm carver, but am also looking at the larger blades.

I just got the Wood Jewel Puukko Combo. Plan on making a thread about them here soon.

Handles are amazing. I went with the combo because(as far as I could tell from the pictures) the handles were more barrel shaped then the single blades. The are comfortable and beautiful.

Mine came with the "micro-bevel". Now I guess I have never seen a micro bevel before, because on mine, its a bevel lol. A bit uneven so in some spots it is a micro bevel and in some its not. I am slowly working it down to the Main bevel, pain in the ass. But as Ragnar says on his website "You only have to do it once". Also plan on polishing of the forge scale...I want a patina :).

Overall I love em, just gotta get that "mirco bevel" off and I will be head over heels.

I'll be the "fly in the ointment" somewhat.

I don't care for them.

They are very well built, use excellent steel, have very nice sheaths, and overall seem to be perfect for outdoor use or carving.

The one I owned was the carver:

What I didn't like was the antler as the butt cap, and the way the handle was shaped. Felt like it was forcing my hand twords the edge all the time. The antler used gave it a handle heavy feel, and I just never warmed to it. Other models might be different however so MMV.

As far as the grind, and steel used, all was well. Great slicers, and carved wood like a pro.

My theory is that the flared butt cap evolved to make withdrawing the knife with gloved/mittened hands easier. The flare can also be utilized to keep the hand from sliding forward on the knife by gripping the handle with the flare between the little finger and ring finger.
