Greetings all. New to the blade forum but have collected/used/carried knives since I was 11 or so. Have a knife that I got in trade years ago from a co-worker. I know something about them, but would like more info. It is marked "Wood Knives mk.1 Venice calif." Acid etched. with Pat. #3702501 on the reverse. Nickel silver fittings and a dark maroon/brown micarta handle. I know there have been several variations of this knife. Some production and some handmade. This looks to be handmade based on the solder lines around the brass back liner. Picture available if anybody needs it. Not looking to sell, just trying to keep up with the stuff I have and maybe get an approx. value. Great condition. Thanks.

Barry Wood is still making knives in Colorado, in conjunction with his son in law, Mike Erie.
His older knives can be quite valuable. Regardless, he makes a good stout knife.
Perhaps some other member can provide contact info.

but mikey has left the stable (no longer married to barrys daughter) and barry is very old and very retired.

We'll just put that little folder right back in the vault and let it grow in value for a few more years...Nice thing about knives...they don't eat much, they don't take up much room and if you buy quality to begin with, they increase in value...

Lived in Kailua on the windward side of Oahu for quite a few years. Kinda miss Hawaii...Kinda don't miss everything rusting though...
