Wood or Fiberglass?

Which do you prefer and why? Everytime I get a $20 hardware store axe or hatchet (Woodings brand I think) with a wood handle, it gets loose first, then the handle splits at the axe head. I have a fiberglass axe that is just as good as the day I got it two years ago, and I had a really old wood handled axe that lasted so long the handle rotted before it split or became loose. What's the deal with the modern wooden handles, is it the brand, they always seem to have the nicest products at the store? I like the feel of a wooden handle over fiberglass and I can't find a double-bit axe in fiberglass anyway. Any suggestions on a good wooden handle, double-bit axe under $40? Thanks for the help.
