Hello, everyone,
I curious about everyone's opinion of what type of shaft is better. Are the one piece hawks or hatchets better or Is having a replaceable shaft better.

i think that depends on what you want in a hawk. i have both styles and like my one piece rmj eagle talon best. this thing is busse tough:p with 3/8" thick carbon steel and bolted micarta slabs with a rather rough diamond pattern for grip assurance.

my atc ranger spike hawk with wood handle is smooth and hand filling and probably better for a thrower because of this but i just like indestructable things so i would go with the full tang tactical designs first.

never tried the acetal, nylon or other synthetic handle designs that are out there.

Yes, it depends on what you want out of your hawk. My best, quickest, fighter, a Francesca Axe, you need the wooden haft to keep it light. My demolition hawk, a K5 Tactical. Nearly indestructible like the RMJ Talon, all metal, and less than half the price.

yep, don't think the all metal ones are throwable / throw well. They're heavy too.

My hawks are for collection only, but if I needed one for do-it-all, I'd get a K5 but change out the alu handles to blasted g10 or micarta.

They look pretty good in cord wrap too. Eddie's coming out with a light weight version I'm eagerly awaiting.
