I followed a link for Allen Elishewitz's web site to a dealer in Japan.

My computer doesn't speak Japanese, but I like the pictures.

John, thanks. I've just seen my future. Now all I have to do is find someone who'll put some great stabilized wood on the Commander I haven't bought yet. A new knife project! I just love this place!

That's really cool. It turns and already amazing knife into a really beautiful one.

The woods are beautiful. I'd like Lignum Vitae purely for asthetics. But in all honesty I'd pass on exotic wood. Make mine micarta!
This once universal handle material has become the industry underdog to G-10 and Carbon Fiber. Since the introduction of G-10 and Carbon Fiber I have become an ardent fan of micarta for its superior gripping surface. Its true! Train with a custom Emerson and a production Emerson you can FEEL the difference. The G-10 surfaces as provided by most suppliers has less tooth and gets slippery in sweaty hands. Carbon fiber?... Forget about it.

I agree. You can't really texture carbon fiber, only cut grooves into it and G-10 is different from linen micarta which can be made more grippy. I'm just comparing my CQC8 black G-10 to CQC6 with micarta handles now.

I'm a micarta fan myself. I'm waiting to see if I can get a micarta/Ti bolstered from Emerson's new "Custom/Production" company. Actually two, if truth be known.

Imagine if Emerson Knives does indeed offer Titanium bolstered, Micarta scaled knives such as the CQC-7. Hmmm... Maybe a satin finished blade or perhaps a black blade with black scales. Sounds like I don't need a SPECWAR custom anymore unless its an oldie.

John, thanks for the link to Frank's work. Outstanding wood. I agree about the filework, though. While I am a big fan of filework in general, seeing it on the Commander is like seeing a big tough dude wearing a pinky ring. Just doesn't fit. But stunning work by Frank, all the same.
I've got something in mind for my upcoming Commander. It's a "secret" project right now, but I'll let you know how it turns out if it ever materializes!
