Wood vs Micarta Handles?

So I can't really decide between the two. Looking between TommyTheWho handles or the Ka-Bar micarta handles. I love the look of both. I like how the micarta adds a contrast in color, but wood is always beautiful/classy. probably something darker like cocobolo. I get the feeling that micarta might feel better in hand. I know a lot of people comment on how they love the weight and feel of the micarta. Do you think wood might be too slippery without gloves? How might the weight differ?

Both handles are the same price, am I getting more bang for my buck going with wood handles?

I live in Florida, though I don't plan on leaving the knife outside, do you think that having fully wood handles is a bad idea in such a humid area?

Which do you prefer, and why? And don't tell me to get both because I have only one knife to put it on. Also, I won't be putting the knife into too much hard use. More for fondling purposes! :D I won't be afraid to use it, but definitely going to be more of a collectors item.

Thanks!

Certainly not an expert here, but I would prefer wood for fondling purposes. I think micarta has great funtionality and does look good, but well finished wood always has a sexier feel.

Wood won't be a problem in humidity but I like micarta. It's more grippy.

I have three sets of wood scales from tommy but no micarta for the beckers. I do have micarta on a bunch of other blades and it is good but the wood is a better feel to me.... Just my 2 cents

I have knives handled in both, and love both. Micarta has a nice grippy texture; wood tends to be smoother. Now that I think of it, all my wood handles are stabilized so neither one wins out on "naturalness" in my stable. For looking at and handling, I do prefer wood. But for harder use (the way my Beckers get used), I'm inclined to go micarta. Though I'm seriously considering another set of BK's, and putting wood on 'em, that's probably a little ways out as the wood is still seasoning.
My recommendation: Get both, try 'em out, and put the less favorite ones out on the exchange. I doubt you'll lose much, and you'll have a better idea of which you prefer.
Good luck!

If it's a working knife, I'll take micarta or g10 all day, any day. I love the grippy feel a lot more than smooth wood.

I definitely prefer some good Micarta overall, but for fondling purposes I could go with either just depends how much better the wood looks to you as the Micarta will feel better in hand.

I have micarta on most of my Beckers. I like it a lot.
But I do have Tommythewho cocobolo scales on my BK16.
They feel fine. Not too slick.
Its hard to recommend one over the other.
The Tommythewho scales will win a beauty competition any day though. Lol

thank you all for your comments! I ended up ordering purple heart wood handles. Think that will look great with the BK12 grey blade. Will post pictures once it's all assembled.
