hello everybody

anyone can tell what kind of wood I can use to make a prototype of a knife that I want HI realize
thanks for your answer

:) :)

I think the type of wood you use must be strong enough to make the journey to Nevada, and then to Nepal. DaveK and Yvsa IIRC, have made some wood models, so I of course defer to their knowledge on this one . Certain softer woods may not stand up to the shipping all over the globe, so perhaps the harder the wood, the better.

Hope this helps.

Just about anything will do, just pack it well. It also might do well to give it a poly based finish or super-glue finish.

There was someone awhile back that made a HI Bolo from an old chair leg that the found while "dumpster diving" aka "trash picking"
(Some story about a cheap date went along with it, but I cant remember).

Just be sure it is packed well cause the Kamis will make anything they get. Even a broken knife.

I think Dave makes his out of poplar. I made the seax from basswood. This made shaping it quick and easy, but left me covered with a whole bunch of fuzz...

If you've got the time and resources - make it out of hardwood. Otherwise, a soft wood is lighter and less expensive to ship.
