What are the normal size limits you want in a block or set of scales ? How thick or thin can blocks be. How short is to short.

I thought I saw this here somewhere before but cant find it now.

for a block is 7/8" to thin ? is 1 1/4" to thick ? Whats to short or to long ?

Are most just as happy with a 1 1/2" wide block or set of scales compared to 2" ?

I am in the final stages of getting my website setup and sometime in the next couple weeks I will be upgrading my membership here and telling you where I am at.

I was cutting some nice curly walnut last night that was 1 1/4 thick and something like 2 1/2" wide and an inch or two longer than normal, I am not sure if I need to trim it down some.

Bigger is better. You need to account for stabilization warp and loss ect.JMHO.Go to the makers subforum and look around or ask the question there. You will get a lot of feedback.

I havnt learned my way around yet, thanks for the advice Don.
