Hello Spydies! I poke around a bit over here from time to time looking at some of the cool syderhole pieces! I figured I'd share a little fun experience I had with my youngest son all thanks to Spyderco!

I know everyone gets their underbritches all in a bunch these days with the PM2's but all it took for my son was a wooden dragonfly kit!

My son recieved the kit for Christmas as a gift from dad, along with my middle son a blue ambitious (Mom wasn't too happy)!
They both had seen me using my digicamo satin para 2 all year and just had to have a spyderco as a result!

We put the dragonfly kit together and he used it to "open" gifts from his grandmothers house!

After the holidays my son wanted to paint it because he loves green and blue and it was not complete until it was those colors! I finally found time in february so we could paint it.

Notice the careful hand and concentration of the 4yr old! I think he did better than I could have!

Thanks to Sal and the rest of the crew at Spyderco  You made this little guy a happy camper and in return his father too!

Awsome pics. I have one of these waiting for my son when he turns 5 in June. He always asks to see my knives with the spider on it. I never thought about painting it. Nice idea. I think I will let him have fun with it for a while before we may attempt to do that. What a perfect gift for the little one. My wife is very ho-hum about the idea. She has no idea about being a 5 year old boy with a knife. It will be his favorite gift beyond anything else we will get him.

Awesome, the smile on his face is priceless. And I too look like that when the mailman delivers a new package.

Love it! You can't beat that big smile on a child's face. My 4 year old wants to look at my knives every day when I'm getting ready for work. I'm planning on getting him one of these kits for his birthday this year, but I might have to get one a little sooner. :)

Thanks guys! He loves it and just about everyday when he see's my pocket clip after school it's the same "Dad, can I use my knife and we can go cut trees and big ones too"! Gotta love it! He has been "cutting" grass and leaves and also bark off of twigs!

thats really cool, if you used ironwood for the blade you probably could shave with it... i definately want to do this for my kids and unlike some people on forums, my wife does too
