Goood Morning All,

Today I am carrying a Woodland Special by Bark River and I was suddenly struck with how similar it is to what a fixed blade Sodbuster would be like. It is inbetween my large and jr sodbusters, just a little more on the large's side.

Given the following that sodbusters have here, i just wanted to mention it as I am sure that some sodbuster fans would be intriqued.

Thanks for pointing that one out. I have been on a quest for a fixed blade sodbuster and couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Don't know how I missed it. That is perfect. How do you like yours?

I really enjoy it. There are no flies on it if you are comfortable with convex blades and understand that some handles and materials come thicker than others. The only reason it doesn't get carried all the time is because I get such a charge from trying out different blades all the time:)

Mmmh I don't know, I find the Woodland a very thick knife for such a small size. Well made it's true, but I find the slicing is compromised by the thickness. Not so with a Sodbuster though. Small Puukko fits the fixed Sodbuster role better in my opinion. Enjoy your knives always!

I have BRK Woodland in Antique Stag Bone. It is a very substantial knife for its overall length. If I was going to compare a BRK to a sodbuster, my first choice would probably be the Pro Scalpel II...

I had one and was really impressed with it, but wanted something that had a little more substance in the handle. Now I think I may have to get another one, because it would be great for edc tasks and really did feel comfortable in hand.

YMMV

My woodland (.145" spine thickness) has plenty of acute geometry for slicing, perhaps equal to or even more so than my old PSII did at (.125" spine thickness). The woodland is meant as a hunter/skinner so slicing comes very naturally for it. I prefer it over the PSII as I let that one go and kept a Woodland. I don't think this relates to Sodbusters though .....
