Woods bummin' pair (guns & knives)

OK in the woods of east Texas, I very seldom get a shot over 100 yds. My primary game will be white tail. I like hunting with large hunks of lead, and have had a hankering for one of these rifles.

This is the mate for it.

Although I think that the pistol weighs about what the rifle does. I know that the concept of a rifle and a pistol that use the same round is a bit old fashioned, but for my purposes, I think this will be fun. About the most dangerous thing we have in the woods around here are the two legged meth heads and hogs. Neither should be a problem for the 44 mag.

My blade pair is this;

ScrapMuk for the heavy lifting, and;

Dozier K-7 Slim Outdoorsman for the light work.

So, what do you head to the woods with? (Sorry, just like picture and gear threads.)

ill get picks uo soon, but i play in the dirt with my heartford (emf) mdl92 levergun in .45 colt, and my ruger blackhawk... my hand loads bump it up to the .45 colt mag range, running a 300gr hp at 950fps out of the pistol, and 1200 fps out of the rifle...

the blade is a custom green river skinner given to me many moons ago by my OA brothers....

and of course the cs trailhawk...

That's a Ruger M7744 and a Redhawk revolver in 44Mag, correct? (I cheated and read the properties on the images. )

How much walking do you do? Or do you hunt from a stand/blind? That's a lot of weight to be carrying.

I've shot the Redhawk. Nice but big and heavy.

I like the Slim Outdoorsman,have had mine since the mid 90s,great little blade.When woods hunting I pack a Marlin Guidegun in 45/70 and a RC6.If I plan on hunting clearcuts I'll opt for my Rem 700 CDL .257 Wthby mag and my RC3.I find both to be sweet combos.
