Hello everyone,

I've not been on the forums for some time, I just want to ask people if they have suggestions for a bushcraft/survival fixed blade.

Conditions :

3 to 4 inches long
Non Carbon Steel
Relatively thick maybe 5/32 inch (4 mm) ?
Flat/Convex ground
up to $50

Basically I want a Fallkniven F1 without the high price tag

Thanks everyone,

woodentsick

To get what you want at that price may be tough. Have you thought about a mora or some of the nicer scandi type blades?

Often overlooked are some of Helle's knives that come close to fitting those categories and are resonably priced (a little over $50):

look around the maker's forum, and read the mail here. All your questions will be answered.

Oh, and the Fallkniven is NOT expensive, in the world of better quality knives.

In that price range, it sounds like you want a Mora. The Mora 2000 might be a good one to start with. It has a bit thicker blade than most of the other Moras, comes in stainless, and the brand name is synonymous with inexpensive, quality knives.

Other than that, you would probably be looking at a used blade, or at least an extremely discounted one, to get a quality knife matching your requirements for under $50.

Just my 2¢ but I'd get a Buck Diamondback (4" version) for ~$20. Use it 'til you can swing an F1.

They're surprisingly good knives and have the Buck warranty.

Yeah I love my helle harding. Laminated steel with beautiful spaced wood handle for around 65$. Scandi with leather sheath.
It is hard to put that knife down.

Helles and Bruslettos are in that range. And i will second an M2K or the M2K10 if the handle bugs you on the M2K
