Woodsman 102, blade canted slightly?

I have a Buck 102 and I have noticed that the blade is not parallel to the handle. If I hold the knife straight up (pommel down) and view it from the side, it is obvious that the spine is at a slight angle relative to the guard and rest of the handle (it is not 180 degrees.) It is not off by much, but it is off. My 120 is not like this at all; the spine and handle are in a perfect 180 degree line.

Has anyone else noticed this in their 102? Maybe mine is an anomaly?

Thank you.

(I did a search but could not find this topic addressed.)

Thank you all. I also checked the other thread. A poster in that thread claimed it assist in handling, if I understood correctly. I guess it is normal, and Buck wants it that way. O.K., good enough. Thanks again.

I see I’m not the only one who was concerned with this. I contacted Buck directly a few months ago, and to confirm, they told me it was supposed to be at a bit of an angle.

Yep, they're supposed to be this way and it has put me off.
I want the knife otherwise, but that's a real turn off.

I know the 117 mini special is a larger knife, but I think I'll end up going that route.

The 117 is a much better size to me. Still small but not tiny.

When a knife is straight as an arrow and a small rounded handle such as the 102 , it is easer to roll as you put downward force to the edge and it’s difficult to control the cut. When it has even a slight angle it is easier to control the edge alignment to the cut. A larger handle with some flats on the side don’t have that problem.

That’s why I got the 117. It is a really handy size fixed blade and the handle is more to my liking. The 102 handle just seems dinky and swedging my fingers in. If it had the same size handle as the 117 I might have got one. I just wish they had a 117 in s30v.

H&S if you do get a 117 there is a really nice distressed leather sheath available for it. That makes it a joy to carry.

Yes, the 102 is supposed to be that way. Many good designs angle the blade to handle one way or the other. It has tge effect of keeping the cutting edge on the target and keeping fingers from hitting the medium and thus not cutting well.

Sorry. It is a righty sheath that I am thinking of. I don’t understand why they don’t make more ambidextrous leather sheaths.

Make the sheath with a square bottom the knife can go in both ways. It’s not rocket science.

these are on sale at a local store for a really low price... (like it seems about half MAP) - I don't need another fixed blade, at all...
but I'm still tempted, and now I'm searching for reasons lol

someone help please?

Some have vented handles and some don't. Not sure why.

What is the actual price being asked? It all depends on that.
