It took a while to get there, but the Marine stationed in Okinawa who ordered it finally got in the Woodsman 'hawk I shipped before Christmas. :)

12", desert, sharpened inner beard. 1/4" 4140 steel, canvas Micarta, and flared stainless steel tube rivets.

He also got a bare Kydex sheath with it.

Here's hoping it serves him well!

I learned at hawks about 30 yrs too late. On a "peacekeeping" mission in 1983 we had Intel our position may be attacked and overrun. We took the "pioneer tools" (axes and shovels) off the truck and jeeps and put them in the bunkers to supplement our rifles and kabars/and bayonets. It got interesting that night but no real attack. A hawk would have been comforting.

I would've loved to have had my War Chief 'hawk during Desert Storm. Now, at 48 years old, I'm like a kid running around with a new toy.

That's something I noticed on my orders, a lot of them are for vets who wish they'd had a good 'hawk at their side when they were active duty.

Never saw or heard of "Hawks" in the field when I was in. Kabar was king. Knowing what I know now however. . . .

Great picture. Thanks for sharing.

I would have loved to have a good hawk (or even to have known about them) when I led an Infantry platoon on the Korean DMZ in the mid '70's. Would have come in handy chopping through ice (or commie skulls) in the never ending winter!
