Anyone used one of these? Looks like an interesting tool, and useful for knocking off tree bark, but at ninety bucks it seems kinda pricey.

Never used one. It looks handy but I don't know if it looks $90 worth of handy. Wouldn't you be just as well served with a large chisel or slick plus your folder?

I was comparing the WP to Ontario's survival rescue machete and Columbia River's razel: as expensive and even more, respectively. So if you really want one I guess the price isn't outrageous. If I really wanted one I might try grinding a long edge on a flea-market chisel.

Hey look, pictures of this item exist.

Looks like a regular chisel. I have a CRKT Razel SS7, which is similar, but with more versatility. The Ringel Razel and Stubby Razel are also sufficient for your needs. The BK3 and Ontario SP8 all would do the same. The best thing - all are cheaper.

I guess the negative for field carry would be that you also have to carry a hammer or hatchet, and if you have a hatchet, why not just use it. Will look in the razel.

You could check out a dewalt construction chisel. About 10 bucks and pretty much the same thing

Ah yes--I had forgotten about those. I like how the handles resemble old forged screwdrivers.

It looks handy for some tasks, but too heavy to justify carrying unless I am doing a lot of woodworking in the wilderness.

Is this for stripping bark off a felled tree? Look at bark spuds. Curved steel, long handle. They work very well. Lee Valley sells them too.
