I really like the style and purpose of this blade but i have heard mixed thoughts on it. What do u guys think of it and would it be worth the money? thanks

I like what it tries to do but don't like the way it does it.

Strictly light duty and the blade shape doesn't help at all. Better get a machete.

IMHO, a woodsmans pal can be made better by sharpening it all the way to the tip, around the corner & up the front. I know, they don't do that for digging purposes, but honestly, it is not that hard in todays day & age to resharpen something if you do HAVE to dig with it.

I have actually thought about making my own tool, kinda like a woodsmans pal/ish & kinda machete/ish, by getting a machete with LOTS of real-estate in the blade & making a big curved razor sharp hook, cutting the handle off, Using the 2 or 3 handle rivet holes to attach a piece of aluminum pipe (with wood shaped to go in between the machete handle & pipe), with thick enough walls to be sturdy enough, yet light enough, to use as a de-vineing tool/smallish branch tool to help clear my tree stand shooting areas. :D

I like mine and use it around the house, but don't carry it in the field. It has a thicker blade than most machetes, and to me is better suited for chopping wood. Seems like I end up using it like a small axe more than like a machete. Never had much success with the brush hook side, so if I was clearing brush I would grab a machete first. It is definitely a versatile tool, though I would like it better as a just a short heavy chopper with no brush hook.
