Storms last week knocked over a few trees around the place.....several dogwoods, both alive & dead from blight, couple of populars & a couple of cedars. Took chainsaw & cut most of the trees off the fences til I ran out of gas. While my helper was gone for gas I pulled out 20"+ AK & GRS & started in limbing the trees. Dead, dry dogwood is about as hard as concrete, but I got through most of the 1" to 3" limbs pretty fast. Popular & cedar limbs that size were on the ground in no more than two cuts. It is always amazing to me how quickly the dogwood will dull a chainsaw, but after going through 12-15 limbs with the khukuris, both would still almost shave, no turned edges, no chips out of the blades; just a few more scratches. Some knuckle-dragger years ago had nailed barbed wire to the cedars. Fortunately, I found the nails with the khukuris. Chainsaw is a have too case on logs that big; 10" to 16". After that, it sure is nice to finish the job without having to wear hearing protection. Hope Kumar, Sanu & Bura had a good weekend, they sure made mine fun & easy.
