When did this appear?? I logon this morning and start seeing posts in a new forum. Let's keep this going.

Tactical knives got me back into knives, but traditional patterns are what's going to keep me here. Currently, I only have/use one "tactical" type knife, the rest are traditional styles (PCKS 110 on order, a few sheath knives, and one stockman).

What do you guys have?

Chris

Although I went tactical crazy about seven years ago, my collection still contains far more traditional patterns than tacticals. I especially collect Queen and Case, along with a smattering of customs.

Wow! I just saw the thread Spark posted telling us this is here about 10 seconds ago! Thank You Spark, you are a kind and handsome man! O.K., gotta wipe the spittle from my shirt.
Well, My first two knives were slipjoints, both are now lost.:( The first one was a "gentlemans folder" that had two pen blades in it, both around 1" in length. The handles were gold plated with my grandfather's initials engraved into it. The second was my cub scout knife made by Camillus. I do not know where either is and it greatly saddens me. I recently bought one of the new Camillus carbon series in the stockman pattern. It has imitation stag handles, which are decent enough... but maybe a little too heavy on the reddish color. The blades themselves came pretty darn sharp. This is currently my EDC of the moment. The second knife that I picked up this past weekend is a stag handled spear-point/spatula doctor pattern. It is made by Standard knife Co. USA and has 1997 on the other side. The blade has Physicians knife etched on the blade.
I have plans to get other patterns. I will probably get a whittler next. I hope Gus and Nifrand will continue to post pics of their amazing collections. You two will motivate and educate many people, so please, continue to share with us.
I also noted that there was fixed blade in the title of this new forum. I think this is great too... most of my other knives fall into the category of your basic utility fixed blade. I have a straight personal from Bob Dozier on order, and I plan to use that as an everyday cutter. I will always use a fixed blade for any heavy cutting, never quite trusting a folder... or as some here have put it... a "pre-broken" blade.;)
I am very happy that Spark has created this forum. It will become the first one I visit every time. (At least until the OVB bowie comes out... gotta keep checkin' that Camillus forum!)_

Great! It looks like we finally found a home for these discussions.

Wooo hooo
Thanks Spark! I started off a tactical guy but after a while realised my wife WAS right. Most of my knives did look the same: black on black, G10 etc, etc. I picked up a Case mini Copperlock as a dress knife and have been hooked ever since. My collection is a little all over the place: I love all slipjoints but am steering it towards Stockman patterns. CANNOT wait for the Queen D2 patterns!
Favorite brands:
Queen/Schatt & Morgan/ Robeson
Kissing Crane

Still have an interest in 'tactical' blades but spend my money way more selectively as slipjoints come first.

Thank you very much, Spark!
I was looking for this.
Although I have a few tacticals, most of my knives are slipjoints, and I still like them the most.
For me "pocketknife" still means a good slipjoint.

Thank GOD! My wife allows my knife habit to continue if I avoid "those black, ugly things that look like a gang member would carry!" Maybe we'll actually see more trade in Gent's folders! And even MOP or abalone slipjoints:D .

Thanks Spark, I bet we are going to have some fun here.
Did markangel say something about abalone and mop.
On the sides two Elephant Toenails (one in Gold lip the other in white mop.) On the bottom is a five bladed sowbelly, and the rest are 55 whittler patterns in abalone, gold lip, black lip and white mop (top to bottom on the 55's).

The first knives I ever owned were pocketknives. I have started to get very interested in them again. I would really love to get a custom jumbo whittler.

I just spotted this. Looks like I'm going to learn lots!

Edited to add, nice doc knives Gus!

Hi Mtbkr! Remember me from the Timonium show? How did the kit come out?

Yes, I remember. We haven't spoken to my cousin-in-law since we gave it to him (January). We typically only see them a few times a year though.

Spark is very secure too! There is or was a photo floating around on him in a pink tutu.
Not every guy can pull that off but Spark did!
