Seal Team 6 :D

Ok I didn't buy the exact one with a copy of the original mil work order etc. but the same version. Has the KABAR logo on it too but that's not a bad thing. First night was showing it off with the neighbors and we ended up in a chopping contest - the BKT3 vs. KABAR kukri vs. big generic kukri machete. That was fun, all that was left was wood chips on the lawn LOL!

Anyways, happy to have found the forums here and looking forward to learning (and do I have a lot to learn!). Am just starting out on my collection but finally gravitating to the "good stuff".

PapaTango52 out!

I <3 my -3! I've been doing some work for it lately.

nice! I want to make a lanyard. actually I did, a short simple one, but not thrilled with it. considering taking the solder iron to stiple the handles (grivory scales right?) but holding off. maybe use triangular file and cut some grooves instead? unsure so leaving it alone.

Don't do the grooves with a triangle file. If I was you, I would add something like grip tape or some inner tube to make it grippier. After awhile you will consider plain grivory again, use it, and realize it isn't that bad at all, and if you have giant grooves across it all willy nilly you will lament the day you made that mistake. (I say this having been through the exact same process and later lamenting my decision to add grooves to the stock handle. It was much less comfortable than I had hoped it would be.)

When did SEAL Team 6 start carrying BK3's?

thanks for the advice DerekH! I think will just wrap with some of that stretchy camo tape for now and "practice" on the crappy knives for fun.
