I seem to remember these.
I got a "Slava" in Germany for DM20.00 (~USD$13.00) back in the early 90's when ComBloc stuff was to be had pretty cheap. Worked like a champ for a few years until the battery died & I lost the damned thing. I rode that watch hard (working in kitchens, behind the bar, immersing it in water, etc.) and it never let me down. Went through at least 4 or 5 bands. There are horror stories out there about these watches, so caveat emptor- crappy versions exist.
There are still decent deals out there.
