WooHoo, new toys! Now what?

Got these "little" babies given to me. There are three automated double hollow grinders and two automated flat grinders. They came right out of the Schrade factory. OK great. But, now what?

I have no service manuals and no idea of how these things work or even how to wire them up. The flat grinders just need a little cleaning and are ready to be plugged in but they also are programmable. So how do I program them?

The hollow grinders need a little more work to get fully restored (though they look like they could run as they are).

So my question is, where should I start looking for info on how to get these things pumping out blades?

You are LUCKY...I would start a factory with those babys myself:D bet they will be fun to play with...

You might try and find one of the maintenance guys that worked at Schrade,he would know the machines well and could tell you all you needed to know on setting them up.Other wise looke up the manufacturer and model number on the internet, you might find the company and get a book or some info from them..

Have fun with them toys, some people have all the luck:D

Ya, shops big enough but I had to take out some storage. Now I am trying to figure out what to do with the stuff that was in the the storage areas:eek:

They are Nickleson grinders. The hollow grinders are circa 1955 and the flat grinders are from the early 70s I think. Nickleson has been out of business for around 30 years and I have not been able to find anything on the net so far.

Would love to find one of the maint guys or operators from Schrade but don't have the foggiest clue of where to even start looking.

You lucky dog! I wish I had one of the flat grinders. I bet they are already programmed, just put a piece of steel in one, push the start button and see what it spits out. Sounds like great fun! You lucky dog!

BTW do you want to sell one?

if you don't mind them being gone for a year or three send them to me and I'll figure them out.:D

Dan, thanks! That is a great bit of info I will see if I can get in touch with him.

Bruce, unfortunatly one flat grinder will do nothing for you. They are a matched set (left and right) and must work together. I will need to get someone out to make sure that the electrical is good to go. They are 220/440 3ph machines. So I will need a phase inverter at the very least.

if you do get him two more names to throw his way would be

V.P. of Operations: James Economos
V.P. Administration: Jeff Ahearn

I'm sure James Economos is well know but Ahearn could be a lead too.
