Rick Occasic(sp) isn't touring with them? Why would anyone want to see The Cars, without Rick? That'd be like seeing Van Halen with the third singer(whatever his name was). :thumbdn: :barf:

I saw the Cars in '80,I think,it was the CandyO tour in Legend Valley near Columbus,O. they were touring with Cheap Trick,it was an outside event.
Both those bands were HOT then.Remember Dream Police,Surrender,Who's Gonna' Drive Ya' Home.................anyone!
Will have to hear how TR meshes, and what direction the bands music takes.Hope Todd doesn't start reading poetry as lyrics.
Saw him do that once. :D

OK, no Ric Ocasek... Benjamin Orr died a few years ago... Is it even The Cars any more? Next we'll hear that Elliot Easton lost his hands in a tragic accident, only to be replaced by C.C.DeVille. :D

Well, I didn't get tickets yet.
Maybe lawn seats.....
Still it shouldn't be toooo bad. :D

How many of the original members are on this tour? I knox that Rick Ocasek isn't doing it. Benjamin Orr is dead. I heard somewhere that another original member isn't going to do it either.

The band now features King Diamond on vocals, C.C. Deville on lead guitar, Nigel Tufnel on rhythm guitar, Keanu Reeves on bass and Ringo Starr on drums.

Oh wait, that was from the nightmare I had last night. :D

Hi All-

Benjamin Orr died in 2000 from cancer. He sang lead vocals on both "Just What I Needed" and "Drive" a few years later. Elliott Easton is a big collector of Jaeger LeCoultre wristwatches as well as an advisor to Gretsch guitars. Haven't heard much about Ric Ocasek, David Robinson, or Greg Hawke these days.

Heard a new song by the New Cars today, called But not tonight. Tood R's singing is reminiscent of " I don't won't to work, just want to bang on my drum". So the sensitive singer songwriter seems to be held in check. The music had that catchy herky jerky rythm that defines Cars music, but the lyrics were trying to hard to be current and cool. Not a great tune, but not bad.
