Last night, just a few minutes before I straggled to bed after my guard shift, I was told that we would probably get mail today. The convoy usually doesn't roll in until 1200 or 1300, but they showed up at 1000 today!

I still didn't get all my mail (what IS it with these guys?!), but I did get eleven packages! :D I got chocolates that I gave to my team mates, and valentine's candy that I gave to the local national kids that work in the kitchen, and lots and lots of tea- some I kept, some I took to the mess hall for communal use, and I gave some bags to a couple of the 'terps. I also had hot sauce galore (yes!) and flavored coffee creamers, most of both which I took to the mess hall to share. (I did keep a couple of "special" bottles of hot sauce- including the El Yucateco- for myself.)

I'm sorry if I ever sound like I'm bitching, guys- I really have it pretty easy where I am. I don't have to march every day, I have a heater, and I even get hot food. I'm just delighted to get most of my mail...especially my power cord, so hopefully, I'll be able to use my own laptop again! :)

A Joyful John.

I get a little tiny teenie bit of the feeling my grandparents must have had in WWll sending stuff to the troops.

Thats great John. I bet those kids were estatic with the chocolate too.

Well, the candy wasn't chocolate, but the cookies I shared with them were! :) They were super happy to get them.

Tonight was Chinese night, so the chili sauce is seeing use already.
