Wool sweater: help me decide

Many times a year I'm sitting outside all day or in barely heated halls or barns. In the fall, winter, early spring a coat is either too much or too bulky. I bought a woolrich wool shirt, but it's not warm enough if I'm just sitting.

I think I'd like a heavier sweater than I currently have.

I know Mongo reccomends filson outdoorsman: http://www.filson.com/714.HTM

I also like the heavier waterfowl: http://www.filson.com/711.HTM

Complicating factor is I need to custom order in tall.

Any other ones I should look at?

I am going to get my mom to knit me one. Check out the local craft stores, see if they have a knitting class or some kind of instruction. Or maybe there is a craft and arts show you could check out. Churches are another possible source. You could maybe find someone to do one for you, to spec. You could pick the pattern, the wool, the color, made to fit, a total custom job. Edited to add: I am not suggesting you do it yourself, but find someone at those suggested locations who can already do it and pay or barter with them for their service.

Awww shucks Dave, I was just about to filson ya, and I see that you remembered! I do love my Filson, but I have found two others this year... I got one of the wind-stopper sweaters from Cabela's and also got a Norwegian sweater from LL Bean. Both are quarter zips, which I like for temperature control. The heavy weight Filson's are fantastic, and would be great for sedentary activities, but for me would overheat pretty quickly with activity.
The LLBean comes in tall sizes, and I think the Cabela's is too. Both are plenty long for me.

What about the good old British army "Woolly pully"?

Thanks for all the links.

I looked at the irish ones, they are a little on the fancy side, and I couldn't find a price.

I'll take a look at LL Bean, they are probably cheaper too. Just so ahappens I got a catalog from "Former communist country uniforms disposal" AKA "HQ" AKA "The sportsmans Guide" and they have a zillion sweater inluding the Britich commando sweater for $20.

Have Grandma knit you one. ;) :)
