A rarity for me, I just happened to check out a sales forum and found a used Persian for a reasonable price five minutes after it was posted. I bought it. Should be in my hands around Wednesday of next week.
Needless to say I'm pretty hyped right now.
This snag provokes a question, however. Can you send a knife to Emerson for refurbishing and not because it needs repair? The seller described the knife as needing sharpening and locking up at mid-point, so, I'm not sure that I will need to send it off. The sharpening I can do but restoring an early lock-up is a bit out of my league.
Please bear with me, I'm just trying to get my mind wrapped around what what could be done should the need arise.
-------------Update--------
Well, the latest addition to my small stash of Emersons arrived via USPS today. It is a user and it showed it. The tip of the blade was snubbed off and there was what seemed to be a bit of rust in all the screw slots. There was no rust on the liners, fortunately. A thorough cleaning, a light oiling, a bit of teflon tape on the pivot screw and it was good to go. Lock is solid as a rock. No blade play laterally nor up and down. It does need sharpening but I'm going to hold off jumping into that until I do a bit of research as to the best way to do this. (Any suggestions would be appreciated.) Restoration of the needle tip is also a matter for some pondering. All-in-all, I'm pleased with my purchase. Enough blabbering here's a couple of pics.
