a simple bowie
- walnut handle, wrought guard, wootz blade ( used a wee bit of moly in this one )
- etched a little bit dark

it is an interesting steel ! to be honest, as much as you try to control the pattern through forging and manipulation, it still has a wild side
I should really work on posting better photo's of it.. ..then maybe it'll encourage others to make it

I missed this... glad to see it brought back. Awesome work Greg..... I hope people know how much work this is and what an accomplishment it is to get it all to where it is in this picture.
 
thanks guys, appreciate the comments

typically i use low carbon iron cut with some pig iron for the charge, to come out around 1.5% overall carbon...this one would be abit higher as it seemed to have pulled some C from the clay graphite crucible
-anyhow, takes abit of time to hammer out a 5lbs ingot

-this one is just abit different as i used Molybdenum as the micro alloy for forming the pattern... seems to be alright
