I was going to post on Uncle Bill's thread but I thought I would pop two birds with one stone here.

First of all the news about Bura is absolutely wonderful. Things like this are why I know prayers work. Even with the prayers he has to be a tough and determined man to be back at it so quickly. Most take much longer to come back from that kind of ailment.

I had just put my dogs in the back yard to prepare for their dinner time, when the mail man drove in the yard. He handed me a strange shaped box I wasn't sure about till I saw a return address. I guess the mail man is used to that address too. He waited till I drew my KK and opened the box. I hope I don't have a heart attack one of these days opening one of these boxes. Yes, there was a khuk in there. The mail man was the first to speak. " Good God, man that thing is just beautiful. He was sure right about that. Some times it boggles my mind that some thing so pretty can be so deadly.

12" AK, L.B. and a crescent Moon. Gentlemen this is Bura. I have gone over this knife with a fine tooth comb and could find only one thing that isn't even considered by me to be a problem at all. I don't know what to call the spot. Any way, once the blade has been touched up with the rod and stropped, what ever this is will not be seen.
This knive shines brighter that most of the knives that I have gotten. Like it's big brother 15" AK and the Bura 20" Siru.
Adjusting my grip just a little bit was all the adjustment needed to grip this knife just tight as can be and, not be bothered by the points of the handle. The brass work one this thing is just superb. The grip is smooth and polished just like the blade and brass. If Bura didn't make this knife he surely was in attendance making sure that it was done the way he wanted the knife done.

Dale, Uncle Bill, and all of HI, I will never forget this as long as I live. This sure is going to be my go every where knife. I know it is supposed to be a pound but it doesn't really feel that heavy over all but, I can feel just enough weight toward the end of the blade that I think I would put this up against any other foot long knife around. Boy oh Boy this thing talks to ya.
I think I know Bura just a little better now. There just are not enough words for me to tell what I'm feeling right now. I'll report on the knife again when I've had a chance to use it some. From what I see so far just wonderful. :) ;) :D :D :D :D

I don't guess I'd make a very good secretary. Thought about writing a book once but, didn't think anybody would understand it any way so, I kind of give up on that idea. Seems most people don't want to read books that are written the way a feller talks. :)

You do remember the saying about shining like the spanked babies rear. That is like this knife. It just shines from end to end. I won't have much work to do on the edge either. pretty sharp right now. How have you been getting along?:)

I don't think that's a saying in vogue anymore..probably get one in trouble. I'm fine.

When I get a sirupati, should I get the 18" or the 20"? Bet you won't try too many snakes with your new shiny blade!

Take care,
munk

Don't know about that Pappy. I find a book easier reading and more personal and straigh forward if writen that way. Like in the book "Gurkhas at war". Granted, though, local slang can be somewhat confusing. But maybe you could still write a book.

I'll readily admit I think stories that bring tears to my eyes are often the ones most worth reading and remembering. And this one did.

Second that. Even when the stories are't real, however it is being presented, the emotions are real. They're the ones that stick.

ps. having fun with this "quote" thing...just figured it out...;)

You wrote a good report and I understood it fine. :) It's nice to hear from someone who says what he feels without the BS.

Pappy,

Cheers for people who tell it like it is. All too scarce these days with all the BS and PC crap. With the straight talkers you know exactly where you stand.

When you mentioned books it reminded me of one of my favourites: "To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth" by Jeff Cooper.
