I can't even write this without developing a few tears.

I have mentioned my daughter Kimberly and her condition as the result of a hit-and-run. She is also a long-time knife nut. She was still in a nursing home last year at Blade time, but this year my wife Kathy and I took her to Blade. She loved the knives and most of all, the people. She particularly wanted to meet Bill, insisted on taking her "Semper Fi" cap that he sent her, and he got several hugs out of the deal. I saw some big old grown men wipe their eyes as she interacted with them at the various tables. (Mike, I won't mention who some of these men were. ;)) But as far as she was concerned, the best was Friday night. That was when Jerry and Jennifer took a group to dinner and Jerry inducted a couple of old farts as Hogs. Then he dubbed her Kimberly Hamhock, the second ever Hoggette, presented her with her Tee Shirt, and also an E-handled Steel Heart with the following inscription on the blade: BUSSE COMBAT "GUTS" AWARD Presented To Our Hero, Kimberly. That little girl had a fantastic evening that she will remember for a long time to come. She has never exactly shied away from being the center of attention anyway, and was in her element.
You all should have seen her back at the hotel afterward, working on her version of the cloven hoof salute.

Thank you everyone, especially Jennifer and Jerry. As I overheard one gentleman at another table at dinner comment even before all of this took place, "This shows that Busse isn't just about the knives." As Kim would say, "Dang Right"!

I developed dust in my eyes as I read that Mike. Way to go Kimberly. Way to go Team Busse and all the Oinkers. I wish I could have been there.

Cheers,
BillyJoeBob :D

Great story. Great folks. Way to go Kim!

(As a side note, the biggest reason why Jerry & Co. get my money is class acts like this.)

I was there and I was one of the old farts inducted! It was truly a wonderful evening, Thank you Jerry, Jennifer and everyone that was there. Kim had a great time and it brought a tear to everyones eye, even if you didn't see them. And we ALL got a special handshake from Kim when we left. Thanks for a night that none of us will soon forget!!! ronybear A.K.A. "PORKYBEAR"!!!

That's a mighty fine story about some mighty fine people. Darn if my allergies didn't kick up when reading it.

I was only able to attend Blade for a couple of hours on Friday due to work. Thankfully I was able to meet Mike and Kim. After following Kim's progress here and on the Busse forums it was great to to finally meet both of them while at the Busse table. If there was anyone happier to be at the Blade show than than Mike and Kim I didn't see them  :D
I hope to see you guys at next years show.

Nick

Mike (and Kim) it was indeed a pleasure to meet you both after reading you here for all this time.

It was a special honour to meet Kim. The sparkle in her eyes and the obvious excitement level she had meeting people this weekend made this trip a memorable event.

If there is ever anything I can do, and it is within my power, just let me know, and it is done.

Like I told you Kim, you are an inspiration to us.

Our thoughts and best wishes will be with you.

Kim is one of the toughest and most outwardly loving people I've had the honor to meet. I pray that next year I'll meet her again...and she'll be walking.

you sob's got me cryin again.
that was so special. thanks for coming kim!

Kim is a great gal who lights up every room she enters!

We had a blast hanging out with her and there simply are no words that can describe her courage and that of her family. She is an inspiration to all who come into contact with her and she was by far, the highlight of the BLADE Show weekend for all who met her.

Thanks MikeH, Mrs. H and Kimberly!

Here are some cool pics!

Jerry

That is a fantastic story. It's too bad the air-conditioning made my eyes water reading it...

Jerry may have a Steel Heart, but like his INFI, it has "give"... :D

I'm glad I met all you hogs there. I'm especially glad I was there friday night at Sonny's.
Since I got back home several people have asked me how my vacation went. Every time I relay this experience to them apparently my allergies kick up cause my eyes start to water.
It's something I know none of us will soon forget.
It's good to be a hog.

Mike H,

It was great getting to see you again this year. It was even greater getting to meet your daughter, Kimberly and your lovely wife.

Kimberly is such an inspiration!!!! She gives the best hugs!! :) Please be sure and tell her it was an honor to meet her! Be sure to give her one of her handshakes that she taught us and tell her it's from Shaggi.

Take Care and God Bless

Shaggi
