Hi,

I was looking to buy a bead blasted knife but I have heard many times they rust quite easily.

So are there ways around that to make your blade not get rusted so quickly?

I have heard about using fine (1000+ grit) sand paper and shave the bead blast off.
Also heard about polishing.

One purpose where I am going to be using this knife will be during food prep. So I am not sure how much the polish would play in that.

I don't have big budget for this purpose so inexpensive but efficient ideas are welcomed :D

I don't think you should worry about it. if you keep it clean and dryish, then you should be fine.

If you are set on removing the bead blasting, then i would recommend starting with about 220 grit sand paper, and then moving to fine steel wool, and then to very high grit, 1200-2000, sand paper. a scotchbrite dish pad in there helps too. that should give you decent shine. if you want to go higher, then start looking at buffing wheels and rouge.

Honestly, that hasn't been my experience at all. I've owned a few and, with one exception, none of them have had a problem with rust. That one exception was my Cyclone that I put away wet a few times after work, and even then we're talking about a miniscule spot of rust.

That said, I have heard that people who live in really humid environments or close to salt water have more of a problem with rust than others, so it's probably different for them.
