Work boots?

I need recommendations on work boots. I wear a size 13. I currently wear timberland pro steel toe 8", just the plain old wheat colored boot. I found a pair of Carolina boots I like for 160, so i'd like to keep the price 160 or under. Protective toe, don't care if steel or composite. Fully waterproof, I'm sick of spraying my boots down after a few days of working outside. Comfortable sole. 8" or taller. Any extra features would be a plus. Thanks!

I've been wearing timberland pros for years. Now we get new boots once a year from my job and a pair of timberlands has never made it the full year, but they are comfortable.

Closest I've found to timberland comfort but more durable are red wing boots , with a better insole fitted for them . I'm on my feet about 12 13 hours a day and on concrete .

Yes, red wing I have considered too. Do they still offer the service where they basically rebuild them?

Yeah they do.

I'm a Danners man myself, I wear 12s normally but a 10.5 in Danners. I've been wearing a pair of Rat Hots every day for about a year, got them on e-Bay for $75 and they've lasted me magically well.

I went to a large boot retailer and tried on just about every pair in the place. Came home with these from Wolverine:

Mine aren't exactly like these, but very similar. They were on sale so maybe the previous version of the same boot?

All they needed was an arch support insert to be excellent. I've worn them all night long working on an airport runway, and all day long walking through the sandy desert. They have an extra-roomy toe box, great ankle support, and excellent traction.

Red Wing boots are tough and break in great--another recommendation for Red Wing.

I would recommend an offer from White's, if you are up to shelling out that much. I have their Smoke Jumper and 2 pairs of their Semi Dress. I also have a pair of Nick's boots, which I also recommend.

Really like my Keens. Im on concrete 10 hrs a day. They have a 2 year waterproof warranty. Bought mine from Zappos. Started leaking at 9 months. Emailed Zappos with my issue and got a response back in about 15 minutes informing me that a new pair was being shipped overnight. Retun shipping of original pair was paid by Zappos.

Blundstones are the best, lightweight and durable. Timberland pros I had fell apart in less than a year (16 hours shifts in a rail/container yard).

Chippewa makes good boots, as well as Danner. However, once I bought custom made boots everything pales in comparison as well as how long they last. You get what you pay for from the right company. Danner(American made) can be resoled as well. So can Chips. I do tree work on the side and was only getting 3 months out of most boots when climbing. Tree bark shreds boots to confetti. I've had wesco highliners for 13+ yrs and resoled them twice. Best $400 I ever spent as opposed to spending $100+ each season for new ones. Great boots by excellent company. Have a look.

I climb utility poles for a living and I 100% agree with the Wesco recommendation. I have found none better.

A picture for another thread, but I've been wearing Red Wings for the past 15 years. I've tried a few other brands, but always come back after I've destroyed the others. I wear the 2240. Great boots.
